Jessie Ricker, LPC

Bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor

I am Jessie, a Bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor.

My name is Jessie Ricker, a Spanish-speaking mental health therapist. I consider myself to be well-seasoned as I have been working in the mental health field for over 8 years. I have worked in a variety of treatment settings such as detention, residential, community-based, and outpatient and I have worked domestically and abroad. I enjoy working with clients of all ages and backgrounds [children, youth, families, couples, and adults.] As a parent myself, I am very passionate about supporting parents in their journeys of raising their children. My therapeutic style is very interactive; I strive towards building a collaborative, client-centered approach in therapy by incorporating the client’s culture, interests, and core values into their sessions and always inviting them to be a part of their treatment process. Some of my favorite therapeutic tools that I enjoy incorporating into the sessions include Trauma Recovery and Healing Interventions, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy [CBT,] Dialectical Behavioral Therapy [DBT,] Psycho-Education, Sand Tray Therapy, Personal Values Exploration, Self-Compassion, Self-Care, and Collaborative Problem Solving. It’s also very important to me that the client establishes a sense of safety within their therapeutic process so I always begin our treatment by working towards building rapport. This includes asking open-ended questions and skillfully self-disclosing what I feel would be the greatest benefit to our relationship and future progress in your treatment.

What can I expect if I come to see you?

My mission is to offer a healthy balance between being truthful and compassionate while helping to illuminate the path toward the client’s goals. This includes offering unconditional support, validation, empathy, and reflective listening as well as guidance, direction, treatment/safety planning, and possibly challenging the client towards trying something new…something I love to share with my clients is “trying something new can bring new results.” I am also a firm believer that the biggest predictors of change for treatment success are highlighting the client’s inner strengths and forming an alliance with a diverse and supportive social network; this is something I strive towards fostering from the get-go.

Lastly, I encourage clients to share and address any concerns or questions with me in our sessions. This helps bring awareness to things that I may be able to change and offer additional support. Additionally, we can collaboratively solve the problem and work towards strengthening our therapeutic alliance that supports meeting your needs to the best of my ability and ultimately what you hope for in your treatment process.
