Welcome. I’m happy to see you here.

Adrienne Buhacoff, LCSW

Therapist/Clinic Director

I am Adrienne, licensed Therapist in Oregon and California.

My Name is Adrienne Buhacoff, and I am the owner and Clinic Director at Positive Inner Self. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Oregon (#L11095) & California (#84173).  I specialize in working with individuals and families with Trauma/abuse, Anxiety/Depression, Grief and Loss, Foster Care/Adoption, Attachment issues, Adjustment difficulties, Parent Training (The Nurtured Heart Approach), and Infant and toddler mental health. My practice is informed by a systemic, anti-oppression, and trauma-informed lens.

I am LGBTQIA+ affirming. I believe that every individual is doing the best that they can with the tools that they have.  It can sometimes feel scary to share your concerns with others. I love exploring and finding your strengths and supporting you in using your strengths to create positive change in your and your family’s lives. I utilize interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, The Nurtured Heart Approach, Family Systems, Mindfulness, and Skills Training.

My Experience

I have worked with children, teens, and their families for 18 years! My career path began with adolescents and teens with substance abuse issues. I provided individual and group therapy as well as parenting classes.  I have also worked with children (ages 0-12) and their caregivers in the child welfare system (foster care, adoption, and reunification) working through difficulties surrounding trauma responses, attachment difficulties, anxiety, depression, and ADHD.

The services I provided included individual and family therapy, training on trauma and the brain, adoption, and parenting.  More recently, I provided intensive, community-based therapy services to teens and their families in crisis as well as individual and family therapy to a variety of individuals in an office setting. I am also a mother of four children.

It’s important to find a therapist that’s a good fit. Here’s what you can expect if you come to see me!

Initially, we will meet to discuss your concerns and ensure that I am a good fit for your needs. We will review the presenting issues and develop a treatment plan that meets your and your family’s needs. For young children, I will meet with the parents individually at first. I enjoy using humor and playfulness to create a relaxed environment.
